Commissioner Melissa Sobolik

Commissioner Melissa Sobolik was elected to the Fargo City Commission in June 2012. Sobolik feels she brings a new point of view and the perspective of the next generation to the Fargo City Commission.

Sobolik grew up on a farm outside of Courtenay, ND and moved to Fargo to attend Concordia College. She graduated with a BA in Political Science and double minors in Philosophy and Sociology.

After college, she and her husband Jeremy moved to Long Beach, CA, where he was employed with US Customs. Within a year, they realized how great Fargo was and moved back home. She currently works as the Director of Agency & Client Services at the Great Plains Food Bank. In her role there, she works with the food pantries, shelters and food programs across the state of North Dakota and brought the Food Bank into providing direct service through the Mobile Food Pantry and the BackPack Program.

Sobolik is active in her community by serving on many boards which includes five years of service on the Historic Preservation Commission.  She enjoys spending time with her husband and golden retriever, Petra, at their home in north Fargo.

You can reach Commissioner Sobolik by e-mail at or by phone at (701) 241-1310.
