Meadow Creek Flood Risk Management
In an effort to reduce the reliance on emergency flood fighting efforts along Drain 53, from 25th Street to 52nd Avenue South, the City of Fargo, with assistance from Houston Engineering, developed a project plan that constructed earthen levees, relocated the drain channel bottom, completed storm sewer improvements, and constructed a storm water pond.
In the summer of 2010, public meetings were held with the Meadow Creek neighborhood to receive feedback and refine the design of the project. In the fall of 2010 final plans were developed and the project went out for bids. Master Construction was awarded the project with their low bid of $1,693,144.85. Construction of the project began in the spring of 2011 with the majority of the construction being completed during the 2011 construction season.
The Meadow Creek project is connected to the levee constructed under the Timberline Flood Risk Management project, which results in a continuous line of protection along the western side of Drain 27 & Drain 53 from 40th Avenue South to 52nd Avenue South.
