1997

Cass County hires Moore Engineering, Inc. to complete a flood mitigation study of flood-prone areas within the county. 

2001

Cass County adopts Cass County Flood Mitigation Study, which recommends (among other measures) the construction of a 70th Avenue South Flood Diversion Project.

2001

Cass County receives $9.5 million grant for the project.

2001

Cass County transfers FEMA grant and project development to the City of Fargo. 

2001

Fargo hires Moore Engineering, Inc. to develop alternatives to extend line of protection further south. 

2002

FEMA advises Fargo to develop flood protection plan to be compatible with the ongoing flood insurance studies.

2006 

Four alternatives presented to public.
