Appealing the New Map

FEMA has an appeal process set for communities and their residents undergoing a remapping of the floodplain. The appeal of new maps created by FEMA must be made during the official 90-day comment period and must be based on scientific or technical data. Any resident who may have an appeal is asked to contact the City of Fargo Engineering Department. If the appeal brought forward by the resident is valid, the City will submit it at the same time it submits any potential comments.

The City’s official comment period starts January 14, 2013 and ends April 15, 2013. FEMA will not accept any additional comments after April 15, 2013.
