Forestry Department
The Fargo Forestry Department manages a growing inventory of 45,000 trees found on city property. Each year, we remove 300 to 500 trees around the city for health and disease reasons and plant 500 to 2,500 trees across the city right of way. We also make sure requirements for tree establishment in new developments, per Land Development Code, are met and conduct tree maintenance in other parts of town.
Our mission is to promote and maintain a safe, healthy, and continuously progressive urban forest to benefit all residents.
Please note: We highly recommend that firewood not be moved in or out of the city as this does pose a risk to other trees.
