The Fargo Forestry Department manages a growing inventory of 48,000 trees found on city property. Each year, we remove 500 to 1,000 trees around the city for health and disease reasons and plant 1,000 to 3,000 trees across the city right-of-way. We also make sure requirements for tree establishment in new developments, per Land Development Code, are met and conduct tree maintenance in other parts of town.
Our mission is to promote and maintain a safe, healthy and continuously progressive urban forest to benefit all residents.
Please note: We highly recommend that firewood not be moved in or out of the city as this does pose a risk to other trees.
