Instructions to assist with the Interactive GIS Map
Map Navigation and Tools
Zoom In and Zoom Out:
Click on either of these buttons and then click on the area of interest or click and hold down the mouse button and drag the cursor and a red box will form around the area to zoom in to or zoom out of. The smaller you draw the red box with the zoom out button, the farther out you will regenerate the map view.
Zoom Previous and Zoom Next:
Use these buttons to zoom to the previous or next view.
Full City View:
Click on this to return to the original view of the entire city.
Pan:
Use the pan button to grab and drag the entire map around the screen. Click and hold down the left mouse button and drag the map in any direction. The thumbnail view in the left corner will indicate your current location on the map.
Identify:
To obtain information about a specific parcel, click on the identify icon and click inside the parcel of interest. A Parcel Information Report window will be displayed.
Measure:
This tool can be used to measure a linear distance. Click on the icon, then click on the map at the starting point and click on another point and the distance between the two points will be displayed at the bottom of the screen. To cancel the operation, click on the measure tool again.
New Search for Parcel or Address:
To conduct a new search for a parcel property, click on this button and a search window will open.
Search Results:
Clicking on this icon will take you back to the search results page and show the results from your initial search. This is very useful when a previous search had returned multiple records to chose from.
Print Map:
Click on this button to print a fully formatted page of the map visible on the screen.
Descriptions of Tools on the Parcel Information Report Pages
New Search:
This button will enable a new search for a property using a parcel ID number or an address.
Search Results:
This button will bring up the previous results returned from a search.
Go to Map:
This button will bring you back to the map and will zoom into the parcel that you have identified.
Print Data:
Click this button to print a nicely formatted Parcel Information Report with a thumbnail image of the map screen in the upper right hand corner.
