AED Initiative
Fargo Cass Public Health has received an additional installment of funds to support the Dakota Medical Foundation’s Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Initiative. This grant has been in place since 2001. Dakota Medical Foundation (DMF) has invested more than $1 million in the past eight years into this life-saving program.
The AED Initiative has placed 482 defibrillator's in Fargo, Moorhead and the surrounding communities and saved the lives of 22 people. Through the initiative, 1,500 people have been trained in CPR and AED use. Those receiving the defibrillators include first responders, ambulance services, local and rural law enforcement, and selected public locations within 75 miles of the Fargo-Moorhead area. The first responder portion of the grant will supply AEDs to the regional sheriff’s departments, fire & rescue groups and local and rural law enforcement.
The application deadline is Tuesday, February 9, 2010.
