Health Insurance

The City of Fargo offers self-funded health insurance, administered by Noridian Benefit Plan Administrators, at a cost of $53.66 per month for single coverage and $286.35 per month for family coverage to full-time employees. 

Part-time benefited city employees have the option to purchase health insurance coverage. Those working 1,560 to 2,079 scheduled hours per year pay $131.10 per month for single coverage and $473.34 for family coverage; those working 1,040 to 1,559 scheduled hours per year, pay $220.80 per month for single coverage and $661.72 per month for family coverage.

The single plan health deductible is $250/year in-network and $500/year out-of-network. The family plan deductible is $500/year in-network and $1,000/year out-of-network. The in-network providers include:

  • Heartland Network, Inc.
  • Innovis Health
  • MeritCare Hospital, Clinics (including all affiliates) and Same-Day Surgery
  • PAID Prescription Pharmacy

Prescription drugs in-network are $10 for generic and $20 for brand name. Prescriptions filled out-of-network are subject to deductible and coinsurance.

The health plan provides mail order service for those on maintenance prescriptions through Medco.  This benefit provides for the purchase of a three-month supply at a cost of two co-payments instead of three.
