A Series of Unfortunate Events Book Club
In the words of Lemony Snicket, if you are interested in stories with happy endings, you would be better off joining some other book club. But if you insist on reading the heartbreaking tales of the Baudelaire orphans, the “A Series of Unfortunate Events” Book Club is open to kids in grades 3-6, and meets at the Main Library on the 3rd Tuesday of each month (November-April) at 4 p.m.
Registration is required for the book club and may be completed at the Children’s desk, beginning Oct. 15. Copies of the first book will be available for kids to pick up at the Children’s Desk anytime after Oct. 15. Each month we’ll read a different book in the series. Meetings will include discussions, activities, and snacks. We’ll begin with “The Bad Beginning.” Both readers new to the series and re-readers are welcome! For more information, call 241-1495.
There will be a special “A Series of Unfortunate Events” Event at the Main Library on Oct. 23 at 6:30 p.m. featuring sad sing-alongs, a special guest from “A Series of Unfortunate Events”, and activities. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the series we cannot promise the activities will be enjoyable, and due to secretiveness of the V.F.D. we cannot reveal more information about the special guest. This event is open to everyone who is ill-fated enough to be a fan of the series or interested in joining the book club.
The Magic Tree House Book Club
The Magic Tree House Book Club is open to kids in grades 1-4, and meets at the Dr. James Carlson Library on the third Sunday of the month (Sept.-May) at 2 p.m.
Join us in the Magic Tree House as we explore with Jack and Annie! Each month we'll read a different book in the series by Mary Pope Osborne. Meetings will include discussions and/or activities, games, crafts, and snacks.
Registration is required and may be completed at the Dr. James Carlson Library Information Desk beginning Sept. 1. Copies of the first book will be available for kids to pick up at the Information Desk anytime after Sept. 1.
