Placing a hold on an item
Please note: Holds may only be placed on items that are currently checked out. Holds may not be placed on on order or cataloging items.
- You must sign in to put a hold on an item. To do this, click on "Search Our Catalog" on the home page, then choose the green sign-in link located in the menu bar at the top of the screen.
- Your user ID/barcode is the barcode located on the back of your Fargo Public Library card. Your password is your last name by default.
- Once you are signed in, use the search function to locate the item you want to place on hold and then click on the location link located at the bottom of the item record.
- Click on the request link to place your request.
- Please choose a pickup location for your hold and click "go."
- Once you have clicked go, a yellow bar will appear at the top of the screen, which will read "Item has been requested for pick-up." This indicates that your hold was successfully placed.
Renewing an item you have checked out
Please note: All items may be renewed once unless the item has been requested by another customer.
- You must sign in in order to renew. To do this, click on "Search Our Catalog" on the home page and then choose the green sign-In link located in the menu bar at the top of the screen.
- Your user ID/barcode is the barcode located on the back of your Fargo Public Library card.
Your password is your last name by default.
- Once you are signed-in, click on the "My Account" link located in the menu bar at the top of the screen.
- Click on "Loans." Click on the underlined number of the item you want to renew. Click on the link "Renew." You should see a change in the due date.
NOTE: To renew all of the items checked out on your card, select the Renew All option located in the upper right hand side of your screen.
- To renew individual titles, click on the number located to the left of the title you want to renew and then click on the renew option.
