Minutes of May 22, 2001
Board Chair Virginia Dambach called the meeting to order at 4:00 pm
Present: Board members Virginia Dambach, Betty Kerns, Ryn Pitts, Prakash Mathew
Staff members Lynn Wheeler, Edie Discher, Rhonda Roesler
Friends Liaison Bev Quamme
Ron Dubberly, Dubberly Associates, consultant to the Long-Range Planning Process
Absent: Jean Rayl
Order of Agenda
The board decided to discuss New Business before Continuing Business.
Minutes
Quamme changed the number of memorials that were stated Friends of the Fargo Public Library report from seven to two. The minutes will read “They also approved two memorials for $25 each in the memory of longtime children’s librarian Vernette Nelson and in memory of Ken Hilburn, husband of YS Coordinator Maxine Hilburn.” Kerns made the motion to accept the amended minutes. Mathew seconded the motion; the motion carried.
New Business
A. Board Appointment:
Wheeler confirmed Dambach’s interest in serving another term on the library board. She will write a letter to Mayor Furness requesting that he re-appoint Dambach to another term. There was discussion about when Mathew’s term ended since he was finishing out David Martin’s term on the library board. Wheeler will find out more information concerning Mathew’s term and report back to the board in June.
Continuing Business
A. Long-Range Planning Process:
Ron Dubberly, Dubberly Associates discussed the long range planning process and led the board through a discussion of community needs and identification of strategic responses for the library.
Next Meeting
The next board meeting will be on June 5, 2001 at 4 p.m.
The meeting adjourned at 6:30 p.m.
