Order of Agenda

New Business
A. Human Resources hiring process for new positions
Dana Sue Busch, Director of Human Resources, provided an outline for creating a new city position. In creating a job description for the Director position, the board will look at previous job descriptions and expectations. The staff meeting September 12 will be dedicated to this process to analyze the critical skills expected in a director from the staff view. This information will be presented at the board meeting September 16.
Continuing Business
A. Discuss and revise 2004 budget to reflect the proposed reduction of $75,000.
Betty Kerns presented information regarding North Dakota State Library Statistics. Fargo Public Library is the largest public library in the state, but we are rated third out of the four largest libraries in number of total volumes, and third in circulation per capita.
Betty Kerns, Jean Rayl, Charles Pace, and Monique Andresen will meet September 12 to discuss further data regarding the budget and bring that information to Kent Costin, Director of Finance.
Virginia Dambach will forward a draft of a letter to board members. Betty Kerns will send the final letter to all city commissioners on behalf of the board.
Virginia Dambach moved to adopt the following resolution: The library board unanimously requests that the city commission reinstate the proposed library budget to the full amount to allow the Fargo Public Library to move forward to maintain branch hours and continue to provide enhanced services to the citizens of Fargo. Helen Levitt seconded the motion; the motion carried.
