Human Relations Commission
The Fargo Human Relations Commission works to promote acceptance and respect for diversity and discourages all forms of discrimination. The committee consists of nine volunteer members who are nominated by the mayor and appointed by the City Commission. Each serves a three-year term. The Human Relations Commissioners represent a broad range of racial, religious, ethnic, social, economic, political and professional groups.
Commission Meetings
The Fargo Human Relations Commission meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 12:00 p.m., alternating between a regular meeting in the City Commission Chambers and a “working” meeting in the Valley Room. A public comment period is provided only at the regular meetings at 12:30 p.m., but the public is welcome at the working meetings. All meetings are located in Fargo City Hall at 200 3rd Street North.
The meeting schedule is as follows:
January, March, May, July, September, November – Regular meeting
February, April, June, October – Working meeting
August and December– No meeting
Commission sub-committees meet at various times during the month. The public is also welcome to attend these. For a schedule of these meetings, call Nate Bailly at 476-6751.
Meetings are broadcast live on TV Fargo (channel 99) and rebroadcast on the second Friday of each month at 8 p.m. and the fourth Thursday of each month at 9:30 a.m.
