Part I Crimes included in our map
Murder (Criminal homicide): the willful killing of any person
Unsuccessful Murder attempts are counted as aggravated assaults
Manslaughter (killing through gross negligence) is not counted in this category
Forcible Rape (Sexual assault): the carnal knowledge of a person forcibly and against their will.

Robbery: taking anything of value from any person by force, threat of force, or violence
Taking anything of value by putting the victim in fear

Aggravated Assault: an unlawful attack for the purpose of inflicting severe or aggravated bodily injury
Usually (but not necessarily) accompanied by the use of a weapon or by means likely to produce death or great bodily harm
Murder attempts and non-fatal shootings are included in this category
Burglary (Breaking and Entering): the unlawful entry of a structure to commit a felony or a theft

Thefts: the theft of article, whether locked or unlocked
Does not include motor vehicle thefts

Auto Theft (car, truck, bus, and motorcycle thefts): the theft of a motor vehicle
includes attempts
Arson: willful or malicious burning of a dwelling, building, motor vehicle, or personal property of another

The crimes listed above are considered Part I crimes by the U.S. Department of Justice for Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) purposes. All other crimes are considered Part II crimes.
About the Map
The Fargo Police Department is pleased to provide this GIS interface to law enforcement complaint report data. The information on the map represents a great diversity of activity, from serious crimes to "information only" reports. It is provided to help members of the community learn about activity in their neighborhoods.
