Truck Regulatory
The Fargo Police Department's truck regulatory officer handles several road-related issues.
One of Officer Mike Lovejoy's primary responsibilities is to reduce and prevent damage caused to city streets by overweight trucks and heavy equipment. During the construction season, he monitors work sites to make sure truck loads are in compliance with weight restrictions. He also monitors passenger vehicle speeds in construction zones and assists with traffic control when large equipment must move out of the work zone and into lanes of travel.
In the winter, Officer Lovejoy's work includes locating the owners of vehicles abandoned on city streets. He also attends construction planning meetings and responds to citizen complaints.
The position is a cooperative effort between the Fargo Police Department and the City of Fargo Public Works Department. Public Works funds the position.
