Sidewalk Reporting
Residents are required to clear the sidewalks adjacent to their property of snow and ice within 24 hours after the end of a snowfall. If snow is not removed from the sidewalk within this time frame, the Street Department has the authority to enforce the sidewalk ordinance.
After receiving a complaint, the city's sidewalk inspector will visit the offending property and leave notice of non-compliance. The inspector will make a return visit 24 hours later and if the sidewalk is not cleared, a crew will be sent to the location and the property owner will be billed, a minimum of $75.00, for the snow removal.
Property owners should remember to place snow from sidewalks on the boulevard or in their yard. Do not place snow in the street; residents or businesses who do so may face a fine of up to $500.
To report residences where sidewalk snow removal has not taken place send an e-mail to snow@cityoffargo.com providing the location, with exact addresses if possible.
