Inkjet cartridges

Inkjet inks can contain a range of chemicals that are harmful to the environment. These materials pose no threat while they are contained within the cartridge. However, these pollutants can escape when cartridges start to deteriorate in the landfill.

The City of Fargo participates in an inkjet cartridge recycling program offered by the Recycling Association of Minnesota. You can bring your used cartridges to our Household Hazardous Waste Facility.

Many local nonprofit groups also accept the inkjet cartridges for fundraising projects. These include:

  • Adopt-A-Pet of Fargo-Moorhead accepts donations. Please seal your cartridge in a plastic bag or inside the replacement box, then place it in the Adopt-A-Pet donation bin at Petco (1126 43rd St. S.)
  • Bethel Evangelical Free Church youth program: Boxes to drop off your cartridge are available inside each door and at the Information Desk. The church is located at 2702 30th Ave. S. in Fargo.
  • Horace Mann School, 1025 3rd St. N,. has a box inside the front door on 3rd Street for drop-off of cartridges.
  • Project HERO accepts cartridges at 2204 5th Ave. N., Suite C in Moorhead.
  • The Arc Attic Treasures, a retail store which raises money for people with developmental disabilities, also accepts used cartridges. Drop them off at 3201 43rd St. S.
