Parking in Downtown Fargo

Parking in downtown Fargo is available both from the city and from private parking operators. There are approximately 2,200 parking spaces in city-owned facilities, another 3,000 spaces in private lots, and more than 1,300 on-street parking spaces located throughout the downtown area.

Year-round restrictions

Fargo ordinances forbid parking on the street in the downtown business district between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. City crews use these hours to sweep streets and remove snow. These restrictions are in place all year round, and the areas where parking is prohibited are marked by signs. Drivers who park their vehicles in violation of the parking restrictions will receive parking tickets.

Doing Business Downtown

Consider the POP program, which is designed to make it easier for you to shop and do business downtown.

Living Downtown

The Downtown Residential Parking Permit Program(DRP3) program gives downtown residents some flexibility in on-street parking.

Working Downtown

Parking downtown is available on a monthly contract basis but another great option is the MAT Park & Ride program.  With Park & Ride, an employee can park in one of the six park & ride lots located throughout the metro area and ride the bus in to downtown.  Monthly transit passes are available from MAT and typically cost less than renting a parking space.

If an employee is also a university student,  they already have access to transit through the U-Pass program, so Park & Ride is free!
