Let's Eat Local

The Cass Clay Food Systems Initiative (CCFSI). CCFSI was started with the purpose to impact all levels of our community food system to assure that residents have access to safe, nutritious, and affordable foods. We aim to improve the production, distribution, sales, and consumption of healthy, locally grown foods within our region. Strengthening the local food system will benefit the health, food security, economy, and environment of our two-state community. The CCFSI seeks community involvement of those with an interest in improving our local food system.

Backyard Chicken Keeping in Fargo
In late November, the Fargo City Commission directed the City Attorney’s Office to work with Fargo Cass Public Health and other City departments to update Article 12-03 and other aligning codes to allow for the keeping of chickens in residential backyards. A draft revision has been developed and we would welcome any input from residents. (Section 2 Enactment contains the majority of the stipulations.) Click on the “input form” link below and submit comments by February 24. Please note this is a working draft and is subject to further changes and editing.

The Cass Clay Food Commission would like to hear from the public regarding food systems issues. Use our input form to submit comments.
