The City of Fargo's tree maintenance program consists of the care and improvement of all trees on city streets and property. Our goal is to prune each street tree at least once every eight years—this means we prune approximately 5,000 trees per year. This work is performed by qualified city personnel or a contract tree service without charge to the adjacent property owner.
Smaller trees are structurally pruned to correct early defects and establish the basic framework of the tree. Large, mature trees are inspected as to their overall condiiton. Most work is limited to dead and weakened branches and maintaining sufficient clearance over the street and sidewalk.
You can request inspection or pruning of a tree by using our online form or calling 241-1465.
