Wheelchair or Disabled Veteran
If you are permanently confined to a wheelchair, you are eligible for an exemption of up to $100,000 on the building portion of your valuation for property taxes.
If you are a paraplegic disabled veteran, you are eligible for an exemption of up to $120,000 on the building portion of your valuation for property taxes.
If you are permanently confined to a wheelchair and claiming this exemption for the first time, you must provide an affidavit showing the facts of your condition. You must also supply a certification from a physician or the Social Security Administration that describes your circumstances.
A veteran who has been awarded specially adapted housing from the Veteran's Administration is also eligible for this exemption, as is a veteran with a service-connected disability of at least 50%.
The unremarried spouse will continue to receive this exemption if the applicant is deceased.
